Found the hebrews 11:38 reference most appropriate - to tell you how much the world has infected my Christianity - I think praying for the taliban borders on absurdity and I would hazard a guess that most North American "Christians" feel the same way - pray for us that we would take Scripture seriously and wholly - Pray that God would take away our Spiritual "high-liters".

Thanks for urging us to pray and for the update. I just learned about this today and have posted the story plus links on my blog. This is important. We need to pray for our Korean brothers and sisters in Afghanistan.

came here via dodson. any friend of dodson is mine also!

A few thoughts on this situation that I posted at my blog:

 - These South Koreans are not worthy of Afghanistan (Heb. 11:38).

 - God loves each person within the Taliban. Trust me, this is not ostentatious piety. In my opinion, the Taliban is a gangster organization. But God loves them and we should pray for them (Matt. 5:44). And we should pray that our South Korean brothers and sisters would love them also.

 - There will be justice. If there are those among the Taliban that receive the Lord, there has been justice for them via the cross of Jesus Christ. On the cross, Jesus bore the wrath of God for any Taliban that might come to Him. For those Taliban that do not come to Jesus, they will face the just wrath of God. “Yet in a little while the coming one will come and will not delay” (Heb. 10:37).

 - It is in situations like this were we are reminded to pray for our political leaders (1 Tim. 2:1-2). They need immense wisdom in negotiating with the Taliban. A personal call to diplomacy is a great call that demands incredible energy, social ability, knowledge, instinct, and wisdom. We need more passionate followers of Jesus to go into diplomacy and politics.

-Romans 8:28 remains true no matter the outcome of this situation. Whether they be killed or they live, God is working for their good and His glory. It is in this sweet juxtaposition — the absolute sovereignty of God and the absolute goodness of God to His faithful — that we rejoice.
