I resonate with some of your concerns, Chris. Which is why I wrote the article “How Missional is Your Church?: Keeping the global in missional” I think it would line up some with your direction of thought…let me know!

Hope you feel better now! :)
While church planting is in my job description, I agree with much you have said here. In our American context, however it is very difficult (not impossible) to overcome the consumerist mentality that has overtaken the church.

Thanks JD for the link.

Brad-I agree….Although we can’t give up hope-can we?

No we can’t give up hope, BUT I think the best we can hope for with existing churches that are mired in the consumerist model is to help them allocate resources such as prayer, staff, facilities, time, and oh yes $ in a more missional direction and at the same time plant new faith communities that live a radically different and fresh perspective.
