It’s convenient to say, “they”.

I see and understand what you are conveying. I say becareful to not say you should do these things to be “righteous” Becareful becuase it is finger pointing like this that is doing more harm than good for the church as a whole.
But good post good verses, and thoughts.

Good stuff. May we throw off everything that hinders and abandon much that we deem as worthwhile that is, in fact, worthless to God.

It is just as easy to point out the “they”…I believe that Chan was merely sharing a statistic. Instead of using numbers he used SCRIPTURAL facts. It doesn’t take much to see that these trends are taking over in the church. I am sure if you spoke to Chan he would admit to being just as guilty in some manners as the next guy. People that point out the “they” in thoughts like this are usually only trying to make a self righeous point in order to cover up the blame on their face. God Bless bro…but please…Know that pastors don’t preach from God unless it is done with Conviction!

i’m a believer and i know to love god with all your heart mind soul and strength is the most awesome thing we could do. what else is ther ? what more could we want out of life than to love and serve our god who gave his only son to take our place in punishment for our sins?i glorify and praise the name of jesus, the name above all names in heaven and on earth.he is the air that i breathe the one i love the most the best thing thats ever happaned to me! i just couldn’t see myself not doing what he asks of us.

The challenge is to live with passion and somehow still handle our earthly responsibilities.

Anyone who says “woah, buddy, be careful what you say and how you say it” should probably read this post again, and own up to the fact that you feel convicted. Deal.

If God’s Word offends you, you probably need to repent of your pride. I think we struggle with being lukewarm everyday to varying degrees. The goal is to be discontent with remaining in that state and repent! Why do you think He’s knocking on the door? (Rev. 3:20) I think God is knocking on the door of many churches in America wanting to be let in!

The question is Are you a lukewarm Christian? I think in my part no….yet I’m guilty of some of these…but i think it’s part of being a Christian…it’s the learning experience…it’s the human experience…it’s the experience of the body…once the spirit is out of this body then it can join God…but until then I’m learning…learning to have a spiritual experience with God…and feeling that peace that only God can bring…and wanting that peace forever in eternity with Him…until then I will fall and I will be guilty of some of these but it’s okay because He loves me and I will learn from my mistakes…and everyday is a step closer to Him…:)

I agree with caca. Alot of us are just kids. Still in pre-school.
For what i believe, the most dangerous ones are those who knows in their hearts and minds and know how to do it plus has faith but Dont do it. I believe people even this kind will even get convicted by the holy ghost, so we really cannot escape. That is why there is a helper.
Other indanger-people are those who follow friends to be a church goers, and out of the church, everything is forgotten.
Some of my old friends i used to see are like this, one day when im up and running, I may be able to pick them out but who knows, we have the holy spirit and we’ll see what his instruction…

God himself does comes to our lives to teach us or through revelations.

All i can say is Im learning and willing to learn.

Best of all is to pray.

Great article! I’d been wanting to find a concise summary of Chan’s remarks for quite awhile. I have one small correction to make in the 15th statement, if possible. I believe the word “from” should be added before the word “sacrificing.”

some of those passage numbers seem off. I know they aren’t the exact wording, but as far as I can tell number 18 seem really off. What version were these from?
