I just purchased my tickets for Call & Response Rockumentary this Thursday. The good news is the first show is already sold-out. I think it’s awesome that the issue of sex-trafficking is becoming mainstream.
It’s important for us to support this viewing so more theater’s will add it to their rotation and the news will spread. You can purchase your ticket by clicking here. Let’s support this amazing cause.
According to Vision Abolition there are:
As many as 27 million people … An estimated 12.3 million people are in forced labor, bonded labor, forced child labor and sexual servitude at any time; other estimates range from 4 million to 27 million. ~ US Department of State Statistics (Trafficking in Persons Report, June 2006) 10 million children and women worldwide … are enslaved within the system of commercial sexual exploitation, translating into some 30 million children over 30 years ‘who have lost their childhood’ through rape and exploitation. ~ United Nations More than one million children … Each year, more than one million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade. ~ US Department of State Statistics (Trafficking in Persons Report, June 2006)

When I heard about this – i thought “you want me to see a documentary on slavery in theaters?” I thought it would be depressing but I’ve seen the movie – it rocks!
it is a heavy subject but the film has enough musical content to inspire and inform. 100% of ticket sales are going towards abolitionist projects – the film apparently was funded by foundations.
They need 1000 people in the 15 cities to see it to get a major film distribution deal to roll out it nationwide – go see it! also the website has some cool apps. they even linked my website – getyourownslave.com
