Not sure if this is good or bad, but I don’t have any allegiances whatsoever outside of the Jesus story. I don’t have a certain tribe I run with or some sort of theological stream that I’ve attached myself to. I can listen to Rob Bell and Mark Driscoll and not have some-sort of panic attack. (although I do disagree with them often) I can read DA Carson and NT Wright and not assume one is “totally” right while the other is “totally” wrong. My iPod is not loaded up with only emerging speakers, or reformed pastors or seeker-sensitive mega church types; actually it’s loaded with all of the above!
I don’t think there is a “best” way to do church. I’m for the mega and micro, organic and launch large folks.
I care about two key things:
The Gospel: Jesus incarnated into humanity to bring redemption and shalom, my passion is to lean into Jesus and learn his ways!
The Local Church: The people of God doing life together trying to live out the way of Jesus in their world.
PS: Of course I do think there is core theology that is vital.
