Last night we dropped off the girls at the in-laws and headed downtown to get some grub at Shady Grove. We had an unusually cool night. Which is rare in these parts this time of the year. So hanging outside was great. After Shady we headed to Spider House Patio Bar and Cafe. They had two DJ’s and the atmosphere was simply awesome. Lot’s of conversation, music, drinks and food.

I’ve got to hit the gym hard next month. My “healthy” eating has been flushed down the toilet the past few weeks. So many great places to grub-it’s ridiculous.

 BTW-Football starts soon. WOO HOO!

After that we headed up north, picked up the girls and hit up Waterloo.

Today the family had one last day of vacation. So we headed down to Barton Springs to do some swimming and kayaking. Unfortunately the weather got bad and we had to deal with some lame drizzle therefore they closed the Barton Spring down. So we just hung out at Zilker Park. BTW-Zilker rocks!Afterwords we made out way to SOCO and enjoyed some Freebirds World Burrito. This was our first time and we really enjoyed the grub. Chipolte no-more. After Freebirds we hit up Dominican Joe Coffee Shop I love their tag-line: Drink Coffee. Save The World. Proceeds go to kids in the Dominican Republic, so rad! Now we are home trying to relax and get ready for the half-week ahead. I got a message to write for Sunday and lots to do before the week ends.

We hit up many spots the past few days. Waterloo Ice House, Hula Hut, Moonshine Grill, Bablou’s, Halcyon Cafe and Kirby Lane. Let’s just say Austin is not lacking great cuisine.

Anyhow…My stomach is a bit larger, my wallet is a bit smaller and our friendships are bit deeper!

I really enjoyed my meeting with Michael. We ate lunch at Kerbey Lane Cafe, which is a local Austin favorite.

Michael is the Community Pastor for The Austin Stone Community Church. We had a great time discussing all things community and mission. Rich conversation that led me to think and re-think how and why we do Community Groups.

Of course he also hooked me up with a book that he promised would “wreck” my world. Fun, just what I need. I loved Michael’s heart and passion for community, mission and all things gospel. It’s good to connect with like-minded folks and dream.

Amanda and Justin (Necole’s sis and future bro-in-law) came down from Dallas yesterday. We had dinner at a great Chinese joint last night and then headed to Mozart’s to chill and grab some coffee.

After Mozart’s we headed to 6th St to hang out and soak in the atmosphere. Of course I made a little stop at my favorite cigar shop. These bad boys are so fresh, love it.
We had to find a nice place to enjoy the new merch so we landed at Spider House Cafe (check out my new blog banner).

Now I can honestly tell you, I’m not used to being up and doing stuff at 1am. But yo I made. Of course this is only day 1.

This morning we headed off to Austin Java for some tasty breakfast taco’s.

Tonight we are headed back to 6th ST. to enjoy the festivities and some fireworks and bring in the New Year. Should be fun. But the best part is tomorrow, we are going hiking, eating some grub at Rudy’s BBQ and picking up my girls from grandma’s pad…Man I can’t wait to see my girls. I hate being away from them. Life is just not complete when they are not around.

Have a happy new year and be safe…Shalom.

Someone forgot to tell mother nature that it’s October, therefore 90 degree weather should be a thing of the past, right? Wrong! Man it’s hot. (I can hear all my friends in Seattle laughing right now)

Allergies have got me down, but I finally made it out. Saturday we ate at the Texas Road House, pretty good food and not bad on the wallet. Our kids loved the peanuts, especially the fact that you can throw the shells on the floor. Took the family to Austin Java for a little brunch which included a latte and some breakfast tacos, yummy!

Now I’m just waiting for a little cooler weather, and some rain. I think I forgot what rain is!

I watched a little football this morning, the games were pretty boring. After Bailey finished her homework we decided to head out to Suzi’s Chinese Grill, which is kinda like PF Changs. Of course the locals think it’s better then Changs. I’ll reserve judgment for later. Suzi (the owner) was there, saying hi, and serving her customers. It always feels good to spend the hard earned dollar on a local business.

Now it’s time to get the little ones in bed, fire up the DVD player and finish watching Lost. We have two more discs and we will be done with season one. We need to catch up, so we have to watch the whole 2nd season by next week, which is the season premier.
