Sorry I’ve been slacking. Thanks for those who emailed/left comments asking my opinion on the Driscoll podcast. I’ve already wrote two long post on the subject but I’ve decided not to publish my thoughts. Not sure it will be helpful and I do not want to stir the pot. I’ve already had over 1200 hits on the subject this week so I know it’s a tense situation.

I have many good friends who are with Acts 29 and Emergent Village. I just don’t think I can articulate my thoughts in a way that would be clear and beneficial. I do think bloggers (including myself) have to be careful how they blog and what they say. It’s one thing to hear Driscoll speak on the subject. It’s another thing to put up a quick post proclaiming men by name to be heretics, calling them a disgrace to God, the cross and the church and then not even defining the issues at hand. Bloggers have a responsibility and we have be careful how and what we blog.

The best I can say is this-listen to the podcast. Agree and disagree (I did) and learn. Don’t automatically pick sides. Many times we fail to learn and grow because we refuse to process the information on a objective level.

This is my last post on the subject. I just don’t want to be combative and cause more pain. BTW-I don’t live with my mom. *wink*

Bob Hyatt has some great thoughts on Driscoll’s recent comments. I think Bob does a good job of being able to not take sides and see things how they are. It’s so easy for many of us to love and support a leader in our lives that we are afraid to say what we agree and disagree with. It seems we box ourselves in one camp and we prepare to fight and do battle with our beloved camp. But I think that can be harmful and so many issues get polarized in the process. It’s vital to take a step back, re-frame and see the big picture.
