This blog has become a vital source of ministry and connection for me. So I’m always trying to improve the readers experience, which is not easy because I’m a hacker at all things technology. But I have friends like John who showed me how to install wordpress.org plug-ins.

So I just installed a new commenting system called Intense Debate. So here is what I need from you. Can you leave me a quick comment. Let me know what city you live in and what you do for a living. This will help me learn this commenting system.

Thanks

...

Alltop hails itself as an online “magazine rack.” They have myriad of topics in which one can choose. Under each of those topics (say politics, church, music, etc) is a list of what they consider top blogs. So the good news for the reader who may want to explore a certain topic is the fact that there is a dedicated web-space in-which one could go to and find lots of blogs on those certain topics. See example below:

Truthfully I was a bit shocked that this little blog was chosen under the “Christian“ category. I started blogging for fun in 2002. Just a handful of friends would read and for the most part they would email me about my poor grammar. (which they are still doing) I do my best to keep this blog raw, real and unprofessional. (not trying to make money by blogging-but if somebody wants to pay me, then I’ll take the loot)

Last week I got an email from their founder Guy Kawasaki and he informed me that they made a mistake and accidentally added my blog. Man I was so bummed. OK, just kidding about the mistake. But Guy did inform me that they came out with a new & improved version of Alltop.

So if you haven’t checked it out I would encourage you to do so. It’s really a great tool to find new voices on various subjects. We truly are living in a global village where the average person can have a voice and create virtual friendship that do have substance and meaning.

I just did a little blog maintenance. WordPress has a cool feature; you can add a description of each person on the blogroll. So if you want to know what I think of you-hover over your name.

Also I’m always up for sharing the “link love” so if you linked me and I have not linked you please let me know in the comments.

I’ve also updated the blogroll and books I’m reading list.

Hopefully I will get a new redesign soon. This design is old and tired…Need a new one.

I really like Ben Arment’s blog as of late. This quote is great:

“To reach people others aren’t reaching, you have to do what others aren’t doing.” Craig Groeschel is a rule breaker.

If you’re looking for a creativity boost then head over to Creativityist.

As always, Drew Goodmanson has some great thoughts on Shared Values Of Missional Communites.

Los chimes in with some helpful thoughts on the Louie Giglio & Chris Tomlin church plant here. Just a thought but maybe we should give these cats a chance and assume they have a heart for God and Atlanta.

Matt Chandler is now blogging. Matt is a great communicator. I have a ton of respect for him. HT: Lot’s of people

Scott Hodge has some great advice on listening.

Great new blog on living missional in suburbia. Many think I hate suburbia-I don’t. Well except for HOA compalining about this-that-and-the-other. But God loves the “burbs.”

Aaron Ivey posted his thoughts on simple living. Welcome to Austin btw.

I love the photography of Stuck In Customes. Another Austinite who’s work is incredible.

Also, if you’re not reading Eugene Cho & Bob Roberts you should be. Both of these guys are church planters who are making great local & global impact. Eugene has 75,000 Facebook fans for his new “not-yet-named” non-profit. Yes I’m envious. I’ve decided to start a Facebook page also-I will give .1 to every fan, any takers? Bob Robert’s is a living mentor to me. I have not met Bob, but love his heart and passion for the local and global church.

Now it’s time to eat cold pizza for lunch….Shalom!

At least that is how I feel. But for whatever reason folks keep dropping by the blog. So thank you. I consider this blog a community of real and virtual friends who journey together in life.

That being said I’ve laid out a summer blog plan. I hope to do a site redesign (as long as studio 914 helps me of course) and start a series of posts on the gospel, culture and pastoral leadership.

Hopefully I can stay away from Home “freaking” Depot long enough to study and write. I would hate to make promises and not come through.

Writing is a skill that I’m hoping to improve on this summer. We shall see. Of course no promises till the Laker season is over. We must win 5 games and my life will be VERY HAPPY.

...

OK…Moving on from the creepy bloggers post. For those who asked here are my stats via WordPress for the past 13 months. (see below)
As of now I’ve gotten close to 250 hits today. If your a “normal” blogger like me it takes a long-time to build any sort of readership. (outside of friends) I’m a co-pastor/Elder of a 120 member church plant in Austin TX. I’ve spoken at ZERO conferences, I’ve wrote ZERO books and I sing about as good as Hillary cries at a coffee shop therefore I have ZERO albums to my credit. (Well, I do have one rap album I recorded back in the day, but that’s another story.)

Here is what I do know. I represent the majority of church planters/missional thinkers. Therefore I’ve been able to connect with folks all across the globe. Of course I do consider myself something like blog pimp as I link to interesting stories like Driscoll/Bell controversy etc. I’ve gotten 4000 hits off that one link alone.

I have no strategy when it comes to blogging. I think-I blog-I regret-and I rarely blog for more then 3-5 minutes for any given post)

Therefore my blog is very random at best. But I have lot’s of fun and I love looking back over previous posts and laughing at myself and also seeing some cool things God has done.

Now I wish my friends who write and think better then me (like KN & SM & JC) would actually blog more. Or my other friend who leads worship at mega-churches and has worship albums that rock and lead at passion conferences like (JDA) would stop blogging about travel trips to random places 30 times a year and add some real legit content to their blog because all these guys are better then me.

 I think I just digressed???
